Who Should Pledge and Why?

Picture
  • If you are an individual, this voluntary pledge is a way to commit to ethical elephant experiences, and show your commitment publicly if you wish. We especially encourage travel writers and social media influencers to take this pledge publicly and agree to have your names displayed on our pledge list, which will be posted online.
  • If you are a tour operator, this pledge is a way to demonstrate to your customers that you commit to responsible, ethical elephant experiences, and agree to be held accountable for this responsibility.
  • Before you pledge, please be sure to go through our guidance on ethical experiences and ensure your activities are truly aligned.
  • This form is NOT intended for facilities that possess captive elephants as we have no way to verify that such facilities indeed uphold their commitment. However, some have voluntarily taken the pledge and we have listed only those that appear to be aligned with our guidance based on publicly available information.

Declare your commitment to being a responsible and ethical tourist or tour operator by taking the pledge below.

Pledge List
Below are the public figures and tourism companies that have taken the Ethical Elephant Experiences pledge to date, meaning that they strive to uphold and participate only in responsible activities and are holding themselves accountable. We've linked to each one to thank them for spreading the message, committing to being responsible, and will keep updating this list as more are added!

Please note that Trunks & Leaves has no financial interest or responsibility with respect to those on this list, and this list does not constitute validation of the practices followed. If you experience or witness questionable practices with regard to those who have pledged, you are encouraged to respectfully let us and them know so that we can revise the listing and work to make things better!
